The Matty Sheets Memorial Open Mic

Matty Sheets was a true pillar of the Greensboro grassroots music scene until the very moment he passed away. In 2024, The NC Folk Festival had the privilege of hosting one of his many open mics (which had been a staple across Greensboro for over 20 years), which garnered great success. After his passing, festival staff knew there was only one way forward: we have eto keep a light on for Matty, and all the musicians who grew up in the shade of his great music-making-familiy-tree.
